About Our Services
The Sunday morning sermon (which is called the Lesson-Sermon), is prepared ahead of time and printed in the Christian Science Quarterly. It is to be studied during the week preceding the service. The sermon consists of correlative passages from The Bible (The King James version, as well as other versions) and from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy.
The Lesson-Sermon is read by two church members (the First and Second Readers). There are also hymns, a solo and prayer. The Wednesday service is conducted by one church member (the First Reader), who reads from The Bible and from Science and Health on a topic of current interest or need. The congregation is then invited to share healings, give thanks, or tell what has inspired them through study and prayer.
The Sunday School welcomes young people up to the age of 20. The Lord’s Prayer, the Ten Commandments, and the Beatitudes, are among their first lessons. They are taught to turn to God in prayer for help, and that Christ Jesus is the”wayshower.”
